Ryan students are the First School Students in ASIA to discover an Asteroid
Ryan International School, Rohini students – Amonjot Singh and Sahil Wadhwa of class XII have brought honour to the school and country by discovering an asteroid in the orbit of Mars. They are the first school students in Asia to discover an Asteroid. This research was conducted in association with the SPACE astronomy club as part of the All India Asteroid Search Campaign. Under the able guidance, vision and inspiration of Founder Chairman Dr. Augustine Francis Pinto and Managing Director Madam Grace Pinto, this achievement of Ryanites adds another feather to their cap.
The asteroid 2010 PO24 has been notified by the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC), Texas. The students will have the opportunity to name the asteroid which is temporarily designated 2010 PO24. Special software called ASTROMETRICA were given to these two students to analyze these pictures on 3 parameters – graph, their movement and SNR value.
Madam Grace Pinto says "We thank God for gifting our children with such innovative exploring skills as a part of our school environment. Nothing is Impossible. Even "impossible" is "i-m-possible". All our students dream high and as a school, we work towards realizing their dream to a reality."
Hi everyone
As you may know that i have discovered two new asteroid 2010PO24 and 2010PL26 these asteroids were discovered by me and Amanjot singh(my school mate) . This discovery really put me on the cloud nine.

The discovery, made on August 6, is unique as this is the first time an asteroid has been spotted by any school in the country. Me and Aman found it while participating in the “All-India Asteroid Search Campaign,” conducted by the Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators (SPACE) in collaboration with the International Astronomical Search Collaboration.

Also Students P. Jhaveri, A. Shah and M. Shastri from the Navrachana School, Vadodara, SPACE Nodal Centre, also made a virtual impactor observation (asteroids with a possibility of impacting the earth) discovery of 2010 NB2 on July 19 as part of the same programme. All students are members of various SPACE clubs across the country.
